Speddyd Rural Business Units

Project History

The Speddyd Rural Business Units

The Units were created as part of a farm diversification project undertaken by the current owners, who having farmed the location for many years felt that better use could be put to some of the farm buildings that had become redundant.

View of units from rear Of great local significance is the fact that this development represents only a handful of sucessfull conversions of farm buildings into units suitable for alternative use, without them necessarily being located within a development zone.

Typically councils prefer to see such developments take place on dedicated parcels of land allocated for light industry, but in Denbighshire and other rural counties this does not address the growing number of buildings that have fallen into disuse because of pressures in agriculture.

By working closely with our Chartered Architect, Mr Peter Stonebridge as well as organisations like the Lawrence Gould Partnership, Llandyrnog Community Council & Denbighshire County Council, the Speddyd Farm Rural Business Units project was set up to help demonstrate what could be achieved.

The Project

Getting the project underway was a major undertaking and took several years to achieve.

In total, three units have been constructed on the site, along with a car park, landscaped verges and an independant power supply. Each of the units contains its own offices, toilets and kitchen facilities and has independent, self contained access.
